Start Here

If you want to make a difference and change the world you need to know where to start. Good intentions aren’t enough to get you out the door.

YOU NEED A PLAN

No matter who you are or where you come from, there are 5 key stages to making sure your journey takes you where you want to go.
Where are you on yours?

1. Find Your Feet

You can’t achieve anything in life without first knowing who you are. Knowing how you think and feel about the world around you helps you make good choices that line up with what you want to achieve in life. Whether you’re a person, a team or a company, defining your unique identity is key to making your special mark on the world.

If you can find your feet, you can find yourself.

2. Choose Your Destination

Once you know who you are you can choose where you want to go. Having a destination ensures you set off in the right direction and  helps you recognise when you’ve arrived. Don’t try to live someone else’s idea of what your life should be – your parents, your teachers, boss, celebrities or spouse. Define your own success and set your own goals.

If you know where you’re going, you’re more likely to get there.

3. Start Walking

A destination is not enough. Now you have to take action. You can’t make a difference in this world unless you  actually do something and step outside the comfort zone of someday thinking. Start a business, begin a project, change the world. You’ll make mistakes and that’s part of the journey. What’s important is that you learn from them, dust yourself down and keep walking.

If you take the first step, the next one will follow.

4. Reach Out

No journey should be taken alone. You’re going to need friends and companions to help you on your way. Too many people try to do everything themselves and it usually ends in disaster. We evolved in community and we’re wired to seek out other humans for support. There will be skills you don’t have, contacts you can’t reach, ideas you won’t formulate without other people there to fill in
the gaps.

If you reach out your hand, someone will take it.

5. Stay On Track

Life is full of distractions and road blocks. The more you expand the more you push against your boundaries and the more tempting it is to take the easy way round. Before you know it you may find yourself on a massive detour or held up behind a barrier of your own making. If there’s something you want to achieve in life you’ve got to stay focused. That doesn’t mean you can’t start something new, or have an adventure, it just means you’d better be clear how it fits into the overall picture.

If you stay on track, you’ll get the prize.
